System is a Paris-based biannual fashion magazine built around long-form conversations with the designers, image-makers and industry figures shaping contemporary fashion.

Issue 26 centres on Demna’s first year at Gucci. Cathy Horyn follows the designer through Milan, New York and Los Angeles as he works out what his version of Gucci should become — from new prototyping and fitting systems to the more difficult question of how much of his own design language to bring into a house with such a recognisable history.

The issue also looks at fashion as a process that cannot always be rushed. Jil Sander creative director Simone Bellotti revisits the house’s early archives, while Norma Kamali reflects on longevity, original ideas and her experiments with AI. A new “Coming up” series pairs established industry figures with emerging designers including Traiceline Pratt, Kinyan Lam and Miss Claire Sullivan.

Elsewhere, Sandra Choi discusses three decades at Jimmy Choo and the craft behind its shoes, while a separate portfolio asks friends and collaborators of the house to select their favourite designs.
