A scandinavian magazine of design and interiors

Rum International is an high-end english language magazine which showcases the best of Rum. The magazine appeals to design aficionados and professionals, and is deeply rooted in the Scandinavian lifestyle, but with an international scope.

In Issue 21:

Welcome to a new edition of RUM, where we celebrate the human connection. Most of us can point to a handful of conversations that have shaped who we are. A piece of advice that shifted our perspective. A friend who listened at just the right time. A mentor who said: trust yourself.

This issue of RUM is dedicated to those connections – the life lessons we gain from one another, whether through friendship, collaboration or a chance encounter. The conversations we feature between mentors and mentees is an honest insight into how guidance can be both generous and challenging. What the creatives we meet in this issue exchange is not only work-related knowledge but also a genuine respect for each other’s life choices.

On the cover is Pinehouse, the new retreat belonging to Danish artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen and her Swedish husband Jens Lindegaard, designed together with architect Johan Sundberg. The house is remarkable, certainly, but what lingers is the collaboration that made it possible. Johan listened deeply, Cathrine and Jens responded openly, and the result is a home where their lives and his architectural sensibility are woven together. Come on in.

From Sweden to Tønder in southern Jutland: here, architectural firm Cobe are shaping the forthcoming Museum Wegner dedicated to the great Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007), one of the most influential figures in Danish modern design. The project is, at its core, a conversation across time. Though he’s no longer with us, the architects learned from his sketches and his playful approach and Wegner’s legacy became a kind of mentor in absentia.
