POPEYE magazine is the “Magazine for City Boys”.

(JAPANESE LANGUAGE ONLY)

The founders printed this on the cover of the magazine when it debuted in 1976. What’s a “city boy”? The term doesn’t appear in the dictionary and no expert panel could define it. So we felt we should explore every aspect of what this “city boy” might be. After decades of debate, it still makes for a topic of lively discussion. It can be a style or a way of thinking. To get an idea of what makes a city boy, read POPEYE magazine.

POPEYE Special Edition: A ROOM WITH A GROOVE – Musicians' Rooms

50+ musicians. 50+ rooms. Records, furniture, instruments and the places where music is made.

What kind of homes do the people who make music live in?

Based on POPEYE’s recurring “A Room With A Groove” series, this special edition takes us inside the homes of musicians around the world — from Tokyo, London and Berlin to Los Angeles, New York, Seoul and beyond.

These are not simply beautiful interiors. Each room becomes a personal portrait, filled with records, sound systems, instruments, furniture, books, artwork and everyday objects that reveal something about the people who live there and the music they make.

Featured musicians include Bonobo, HOMESHAKE, Mndsgn, SASAMI, beabadoobee, Oliver Sim of The xx, FKJ, Nick Hakim, John Carroll Kirby, Joe Armon-Jones of Ezra Collective, members of Black Country, New Road, Duval Timothy, Jeff Parker and many more.

A special POPEYE book for anyone interested in music, interiors, record collections, creative homes and the spaces where culture happens.
