Casa Brutus – Number 320: Tomorrow’s House

Casa BRUTUS is a Japanese lifestyle and design magazine covering architecture, interiors, art, food, travel and contemporary culture.

Number 320, “TOMORROW’S HOUSE 2026”, looks at homes as expressions of personal taste and worldview. The issue visits artists, designers and architects whose spaces reveal how decisions about architecture, furniture, objects and art come together to create a distinctive way of living.

At the centre is the newly completed Tokyo home of an internationally known artistic director who also lives in Paris and Rome. Its playful architecture stacks spaces almost like sneaker boxes, mixing references to Pierre Chareau’s Maison de Verre with Western building materials, furniture and art alongside Japanese modernism.

Further stories include an artist’s holiday home, a designer’s apartment renovation, a traditional Japanese house given new life through contemporary intervention and an architect’s sensitive renovation of a lesser-known modernist residence. A second feature, “A Watch for 100 Years From Now 2026”, turns to watches designed with longevity in mind.
