Spotlighting today’s most exciting makers, ideas and innovations
Our Spring/Summer 2023 issue celebrates how craft can bring us together.
About the issue
The Spring/Summer 2023 issue launched in mid-April and features the globe-trotting design studio Company, which collaborates with master artisans the world over; the multi-talented artist Theaster Gates; psychedelic weaver Cecilia Charlton; dissident artist Ai Weiwei; the potters digging deep for wild clay; couturier-to-the-stars Sabyasachi Mukherjee, and much more.
The design
Since 2022, the magazine’s visual direction has been led by Crafts’ creative partners S-T. Our redesigned logo is a modern take on Morris Troy – a typeface designed by craft pioneer William Morris in 1892. The addition of a Crafts symbol – a motif of four letter C’s circling around a central point – is based on the tradition of the pottery mark, often stamped onto studio ceramics to identify their maker.
